Roman Abramovich has invested half a million dollars in the Russian-Israeli startup
Medviser . The representative of Abramovich, John Mann, confirmed this fact. He also noted that the businessman recognized the project as promising.
The name of the fund that allocated funds is not disclosed. However, it is known that now Abramovich controls 30% of the project. After the investment, the startup was valued at $ 1.7 million.
Medviser co-founder Anna Danishevskaya
told Vedomosti that the project is an online platform for remote medical consultations. “It connects patients directly with leading international experts for reasonable money,” notes Danishevskaya. She believes that in this way it will be possible to make medical services more accessible to people in different countries. In addition, the patient will have the opportunity to find services for the price that suits him more.
The startup was created last summer. In addition to Danishevskaya, its founders are Lev Orlovsky and Konstantin Umansky. At the initial stage, the platform offered patients from Russia and the CIS only advice from Russian-speaking Israeli doctors. Now the company plans to cooperate with specialists from India, Spain and Germany.

“Before attracting money, it was important for us to check the concept and build processes, we have not actively promoted the service on the mass market,” explains Danishevskaya. Part of the funds raised will go to the promotion of the project. The creators of the platform believe that in Russia Medviser can count on 0.3 - 1 million users. So far, only a few dozen consultations have been held.
The idea for a startup is not unique. In the US, similar projects (
Healthtap ,
DoctorOnDemand ,
American Well ) attracted tens of millions of dollars and millions of users.
And in the Russian market there are also similar companies. Vladimir Gurdus, General Director
of RMI Partners, believes that such projects still have prospects, as so far no one has developed a truly convenient service: “Those who are the first to offer convenient technology and will create high trust in the brand among consumers will win For example,
GetTaxi or
Uber . There are no such leaders on the market of medical services. ”
Roman Abramovich periodically makes investments in technology start-ups. Megamind
wrote that in April it invested $ 15 million in the
Music Messenger music sharing
service .
