Consideration of the complaint "Yandex" on Google is postponed until June 1 for technical reasons

The Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service ( FAS ) has postponed until June 1 the date of consideration of the complaint of “Yandex” to Google . In the meantime, the court will study some of the materials that were provided by Yandex only yesterday. Another reason for the transfer is the non-appearance of a Google representative in connection with the protracted procedure for obtaining a visa to travel to Russia.

Megamind wrote that in February Yandex accused Google of violating fair competition in the mobile systems market and filed a complaint with FAS. After that, the FAS filed a lawsuit against the offender.

According to Yandex, the company violates Article 14 of the Law on Protection of Competition, forcing manufacturers of mobile devices installing the Android operating system to refuse to pre-install competitors' applications.

Last year, three manufacturers of smartphones based on Android OS ( Fly , Explay and Prestigio ) stopped performing the installation of Yandex services on their devices. The reason alleged were the special conditions of the contract with Google. However, the search giant persistently denied accusations.

The trial was to be held in April. However, Google was able to achieve the transfer of the court hearing on May 25. This was due to the fact that the company did not have time to prepare all the necessary documents.

Yandex’s share in the search market is declining. It is strongly due to the choice of a particular search engine by mobile users. According to LiveInternet.ru , in April of this year, Yandex received 58.1% of the search queries of the Russian Internet. Last year, this figure reached 62%. The share of Google increased - 34.1% in 2015 against 27.6% in 2014.

It is also worth noting that after 5 years of investigation, the European Commission filed a lawsuit against Google for violating antitrust laws. The trial with Google will be the loudest antitrust case of the European Commission after a similar story with Microsoft, which eventually was fined $ 1.8 billion. The penalty for Google may be $ 6 billion.
