The rightholder of the Finnish operating system Sailfish clarified the possible format of
Jolla's cooperation with Russia. He noted that we are not talking about creating a Russian operating system based on Sailfish. Jolla CEO Antti Saarnio explained that only some components of the operating system can be upgraded or replaced.
According to Saarnio, it is beneficial for the company to cooperate with Russia. Sailfish will be able to expand its influence on the Russian market. If Russian specialists adapt the operating system, this will only benefit.
In any case, the closed solutions and the company's own technologies will not be affected. At the same time, Saarnio is not against the integration of Russian developments and services into Sailfish. Russia can partially Russify the operating system and replace foreign services with its own.

Sailfish is already being supplied to the Russian market with the
Yandex.Store application preinstalled, Saarnio
reported to The Verge.
Two days ago, Megamind
wrote that on May 14 a meeting was held between representatives of the Ministry of Communications and the company Jolla. It was then announced Russia's intentions to create a mobile OS based on Sailfish. Our own efforts to develop an operating system from scratch would take a very long time. Therefore, the joint revision of the existing project is the best solution to the problem.
