The volume of imports of personal computers in Russia decreased by 44%

According to IDC, in the first quarter of 2015, there was a decrease in the supply of personal computers to Russia by 44%. PC makers are now trying to predict the future behavior of the market, Kommersant writes . At the same time, the PC market has been shrinking for more than two years in a row. In the first quarter of 2015, the volume of deliveries of personal computers to Russia decreased immediately by 43.6% to 1 million units. Deliveries of desktop PCs decreased by 35.8%, laptops - by 48.9%.

Previously, the main players had expected the first quarter of 2015 to be the most difficult in recent years. The main problem is the unstable economic situation and the depreciation of the ruble against the dollar. “The PC market in Russia is still declining, which is a result of many factors, including stagnation in demand, market saturation and a drop in the national currency exchange rate,” Natalya Vinogradova, senior analyst at IDC, commented on the situation.

Now the most notable player in the PC market is Lenovo (22.2% of all computers shipped). At the same time, the company could even increase its market share compared to last year. In second place is Hewlett-Packard, which delivered 16.8% of computers to Russia. The third position is occupied by Acer with 10.5%.

In the opinion of Lenovo management, the personal computer market in Russia will gradually recover. At the same time, a slowdown in deliveries is expected in the second and third quarter. But in the fourth quarter, subject to the stability of the ruble, PC shipments to Russia will return to the level of the fourth quarter of 2014.
