Facebook Messenger has a free video call feature.

Yesterday, April 27, Facebook representatives announced the launch of a new feature in Facebook Messenger . Now the messenger will allow you to make video calls. Users will be able to do this via Wi-Fi or cellular network.

However, group calls are not currently supported. According to the main messenger developer Stan Chudnovsky, this feature is under development. In addition, the team is working separately to improve the quality of video calls. For this, the video stabilization feature will be implemented.

However, in Facebook Messenger, the automatic adjustment of video quality is already working: the clarity of the image changes depending on the speed of the Internet connection. It is also possible to disable the video on its part. Then the display quality of the interlocutor can improve. To switch between a regular call and a video call, just one click is enough.

According to the press service of Facebook, only the owners of mobile versions of Facebook Messenger will be able to use the new function. For the web version it will not work.

Video calls for all users will be free, as reported Chudnovsky.

Today, a new feature is available in 18 countries: Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, France, Greece, Ireland, Laos, Lithuania, Mexico, Nigeria, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, USA, United Kingdom and Uruguay.

In other countries, the company plans to launch it in a few months.
