On Sunday, Nokia Technologies denied
rumors that appeared online. The company said it does not plan to resume its own production of smartphones.
"Nokia notes the recent news that it has announced its intention to manufacture mobile devices at a factory in China, and these messages are not true," the
company said in a
statement ,
Cnet quotes.
The reports said that the company is working on a secret project, as a result of which it will announce the release of a new smartphone in 2016. It was expected that the former Finnish industry giant would introduce the device, and then license the design and name under the name of another company that would support production and sales.
Nokia was once dominant in the market of mobile phone manufacturers around the world, but could not quickly adapt to the advent of touchscreen smartphones and soon found itself far behind Samsung and Apple. Nokia, of course, tried to keep the business, but customers are increasingly abandoning the company's products in favor of competitors.

Nokia Technologies is one of three divisions that were not sold to Redmond.
By selling its mobile unit, the company focused on its telecommunications consumer segment, as well as the Here mapping service. A little earlier this month, Nokia confirmed that it had completed a
deal with Alcatel-Lucent to acquire the latter for $ 16.6 billion.
