Apple wins Chinese corporation in Beijing People’s Court
In June 2012, Shanghai Zhizhen Network Technology sued Apple for violating the latest Siri patent. In the lawsuit, the Chinese company wrote that Xiao I Robot registered a similar service back in 2006, a year before the creation of Siri Inc. Xiao I Robot recognizes voice commands using similar Siri technology.
A good sign for the Chinese corporation was the fact that Apple settled the dispute with Proview Technology, agreeing to pay $ 60 million for using the iPad trademark. Chinese Shanghai Zhizhen Network Technology hoped for success in the dispute, but the Beijing People’s Court decided to satisfy the counterclaim.
Apple lined up the defense as follows: the company filed a lawsuit against the Patents Review Committee of the Beijing Supreme People’s Court to invalidate the patent for Xiao I Robot. The court made this decision based on the fact that the patent of the Chinese corporation did not explain the technological details of the service, which is contrary to the laws of the country.
