Ben Williams, manager of the Abdlock Plus project,
wrote on his blog that “the decision of the Hamburg court is very important because it sets a precedent that will help us avoid similar lawsuits and expenses, protecting what seems to us an inalienable consumer right: the ability to control our screens, avoid annoying ads and protect privacy. ” Williams noted that the company wants to collaborate with other publishers, advertisers and content creators.
The plaintiffs disagree with this decision, they are convinced that AdBlock Plus acts illegally and prevents competition. “He (AdBlock Plus) violates the freedom of the press. We will wait for written substantiations of the court’s decision in order to analyze them and study them for possible appeal. ”
One of the most popular browsers for AdBlock Plus browsers is blocking ads, but it also works with advertisers' whitelists: 90% are on the list for free, but with some the company
takes money .
