IRI will call mobile operators to responsibility for imposing services

On April 23, the Internet Development Institute (IRI) will discuss the negative consequences of the introduction of “one-click” payments by mobile operators. Users are additionally charged for services that they did not choose. The head of the Iranian Council, German Klimenko, believes that this problem should be solved at the state level.

The issue is on the agenda of the Internet forum RIF + CIB , as reported by RBC. Mobile operators impose a subscription to additional payments to users. They complain that when you connect some options without their knowledge, services are connected, for which funds are also withdrawn.

Klimenko notes that very small amounts are withdrawn. And this can not serve as a basis for a criminal case.

Mobile operators perform the functions of a financial agency, but do not seek to obtain a license from the Central Bank. And therefore do not bear full responsibility. This is the second obstacle to solving the problem.

The head of the Islamic Republic of Iran proposes two ways out of this situation: “To entrust the financial activity of operators to control the Central Bank and allow users to file collective claims in such cases.”

It should be noted that this is not the first complaint of German Klimenko to mobile operators. In March, he complained about content partners of Megafon. They require users to connect a subscription to view their videos. However, the subscription terms are displayed in a corner of the screen in unreadable font.
