Xiaomi invests in 100 more startups

Lei Jun, head of Xiaomi, told the Chinese edition of the Southern Metropolis Daily about the company's plans to invest in another hundred startups to expand its own ecosystem.

Now Xiaomi will struggle with growing competition from other Chinese companies like LeTV, working in the field of "smart" hardware. But Lei Jun says that it does not cause concern to him. Xiaomi will develop towards the creation of an “ecosystem empire”. With the help of software that is able to combine any device, Xiaomi increases the product line by investing and working with new partners in the field of “Internet of things”. The company has already invested in more than 20 startups, and plans to invest in another hundred to help them grow by copying the Xiaomi model .

At the moment, the company, known as the world's third-largest smartphone maker, offers many smart home products: light bulbs, air purifiers, routers, and other devices. Venture company GGV Capital has already invested in three companies from the Xiaomi ecosystem, working on different parts of the smart home.
