AliExpress will open a representative office and store user data in the Russian Federation.

It became known about the meeting of employees of AliExpress, a member of the Alibaba holding, with the deputy. Head of Roskomnadzor Antonina Priezzhevoy. The representative of AliExpress in Russia and the CIS, Mark Zavadsky, along with the technical director of the company Dunbai Go was at the meeting.



Following the meeting, Alibaba announced the opening of an official representative office and the future storage of data on Russian users on the territory of the Russian Federation in order to meet the requirements that will come into force on September 1, 2015 under the Federal Law 242.



Mark Zavadsky’s comment to Kommersant:
We are considering the possibility of creating a representative office in Russia in order to further support the growth of our business and our Russian partners, as well as to facilitate interaction with state authorities of the Russian Federation


RBC sources learned that this was not the first meeting of Alibaba employees with representatives of the authorities and Russian data centers. The company has already chosen a partner for hosting servers, but did not disclose specific data (Google rents Rostelecom data centers).

Earlier it was reported that eBay and PayPal are also ready to comply with the requirements of the law and have already consulted with representatives of Roskomnadzor.
