The share of online advertising is growing against the background of a general reduction in the advertising market in Russia

In the first quarter of 2015, the advertising market in Russia decreased by 19%. Most of all, the reduction has affected the advertising of print media and radio. Their share decreased by 45% and 35%, respectively. However, the online advertising market continues to grow, despite the unfavorable economic situation.

The volume of the Russian market in the first quarter fell to 62.3 billion rubles, according to the Association of Communication Agencies of Russia (ACAR). It’s too early to make any predictions. Market research is still ongoing. “We now live in a short-term planning. But there is a feeling that the summer market is groping for the bottom, ”said Viktor Shkulev, President of Hearst Shkulev Media.

Changes in the advertising market in 2014–2015 are compared with the situation of 2008–2009. Thus, in the first quarter of 2009, the TV advertising market declined by 20%, by radio - by 38%, in print media - by 42%. However, the main difference in the current situation is the continued growth of Internet advertising. This year, 29% of the advertisers budget is spent on it. Last year, the figure was 22%.

TVzavr CEO Sergey Livshits believes that this is due to the increased activity of Russians on the Internet. And the advertiser seeks to contact the user where he takes steps to choose and buy goods, Livshits explained in an interview with the newspaper Kommersant

According to Vi, in the first quarter, advertisers spent almost 1 billion rubles on promotion in Internet videos, which is 10% more than a year earlier. Natalya Dmitrieva, CEO of the Gazprom-Media Digital celler, told Vedomosti that she agrees with this assessment: “Video advertising remains an emerging market segment that has not yet reached its peak of development”
