After 5 years of investigation, the European Commission filed a lawsuit against Google for violating antitrust laws,
reports The Wall Street Journal. The European regulator and the American Internet company have not reached an agreement. Now Google faces a multi-billion dollar fine.
Today, April 15, the European Commissioner for Competition Margret Vestager went to Washington. The decision of the European Commission will be officially announced there. It was taken in conjunction with EU President Jean-Claude Juncker. About two weeks ago, Megamind
wrote that the European Commission was actively preparing for a formal trial in court.
The trial with Google will be the loudest antitrust case of the European Commission after a similar story with Microsoft, which eventually was fined $ 1.8 billion. A fine for Google could be $ 6 billion.

The European Commission will draw the court’s attention to four facts of abuse of a dominant market position:
• contracts restricting the use of the AdWords API with other platforms
• borrowing content from competing websites,
• manipulation of search results,
• contracts with advertisers that do not allow them to access competing search and advertising services.
Recall that in February, the Federal Anti-Monopoly Service of the Russian Federation, on the basis of a complaint from Yandex,
charged Google with violating anti-monopoly legislation. It requires to prevent the pre-installation of Google search and other services of the company on mobile devices along with Android OS. The trial is scheduled for the end of May.
