Nokia may sell Uber’s Here map service

Here map service is offered for sale. Its owner, the Finnish company Nokia, considers Uber taxi service, a group of car companies from Germany, as well as private investors as potential buyers. Nokia plans to focus on developing wireless networks.

In connection with this news, Nokia shares rose by 5.6% and reached the price of 7.58 euros. In the fourth quarter of last year, sales in the Here division increased by 15% and reached 292 million euros.

In 2013, the company sold its mobile division of Microsoft for $ 7.5 billion. After that, Nokia had 3 areas of development: the development of network infrastructure, the Here service and the technology licensing department. Here service is estimated at 2 billion euros. However, in 2008, when Nokia was just starting work on Here, it bought out the manufacturer of digital maps Navteq for $ 8.1 billion. So, the price of Here is relatively small.
