Android creator raising money for a new venture fund

Since Andy Rubin, the de facto founder of Android and the creator of the eponymous mobile operating system, left Google in October 2014, there have been many rumors about what he will do next.

The PE Hub website found in the SEC archives a document according to which Andy Rubin recently attracted $ 242 million to Playground Ventures, which he had recently founded, and $ 48 million a little earlier last week to another Playground Global fund. Both funds will focus on investments in the hardware sector and start-ups.

Matt Henderson, a former colleague of Andy Rubin for Danger, who made Sidekick , one of the most popular smartphones in its time, will be the managing partner of the new fund, which plans to raise a total of $ 300 million in capital for future projects.
