Imagine Cup '08: from Paris with a victory

On Tuesday, winners were announced in all categories of the 2008 Imagine Cup Final, which was held in early July in Paris. It’s nice to say that the Russian Red Devils team won in one of the 9 categories - the brothers Ilya and Sergey Grebnov from Ivanovo. They performed best of all in the “Project Hoshy”, where the task for the competing participants is to develop the most successful simulation of artificial intelligence.

Our participants of the main and most spectacular part of the Cup, the category of Software projects from the Ignition team from St. Petersburg, took 12th place, at the same time receiving a special award for engineering excellence. This award is awarded for the most interesting and full realization of the capabilities of the tools used by the main sponsor of the event - Microsoft. They are invited to the company's office in Redmond, where they will be able to communicate with leading developers.

It should be noted that the teams from Ukraine, who took the first place in the Algorithms category and the third place in the “Project Ho Chi Minhs”, also performed well.

The SOAK team from Australia, who invented the country's field irrigation optimization system, became the winners in the Software Projects. Next year, the Cup final will be held in Egypt and its theme will be “Millennium”, formulated by UNESCO. Registration of participants for regional qualifying rounds is already open .
