On April 9, Mark Zuckerberg visited the summit of Latin American countries as part of his new project Internet.org. The goal of the project is to provide Internet access to residents of the Third World countries and to all those who do not yet have such an opportunity. According
to Zuckerberg on his Facebook page, in the near future Internet.org will be launched in Panama together with telecommunication company Digicel Panamá.
The
Internet.org project was released in 2013. Internet.org is a specialized mobile application. With its help, users connect to the free Internet. The project idea was supported by Samsung, Nokia, Qualcomm, MediaTek and Opera browser developers. Each of these companies will be able to contribute to the project through the development of more accessible Internet technologies, the production of inexpensive smartphones, the release of lightweight versions of mobile applications that save traffic and battery capacity.
Internet.org has already been launched in Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya, Colombia, Ghana, India. More recently, in March of this year, the Philippines was added to this list. Vedomosti
