AT & T will pay $ 25 million for leaking customer data

The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) said that AT & T's 3 call-center employees were selling data about their clients to criminals who used this data to unlock their stolen phones.

This incident affected more than 279,000 AT & T customers. Stolen data included customer names, social security numbers, and some other data.

According to the FCC, 3 employees of Mexican and 40 employees of Colombian and Philippine call-centers are related to the leakage of personal information.

AT & T has no reason to believe that the stolen data was used for identity theft or fraud. But the company will pay a fine of $ 25 million, as well as notify all customers affected by the leak, and hire a manager who will resolve the conflict with the FCC.
