Satya_Nadella According to Microsoft's Business Insider, more than a hundred employees were laid off against the background of the ongoing “restructuring” plan that began last summer. It is not known exactly how much was affected by the last round of cuts.

Microsoft's chief executive, Satya Nadella, announced the company's "rationalization" last July, with the news that 18,000 jobs would be cut, which represents 14% of the total workforce of the technology giant.

The first layoffs occurred in the same month, cuts continued in September and October. This process will be completed by June 30 of this year. Seattle Times reports that hundreds of employees were laid off earlier this week.

Many of the cuts occurred as a result of Microsoft’s acquisition of Nokia’s business last April. The company has closed half of the production facilities that it acquired with the purchase of a Finnish company.

In a Saturday statement, a company spokesman said that the latest restructuring plan announced last July is expected.

It is also reported that the dismissals relate to employees of different departments of Microsoft and are not focused on former Nokia employees.
