The European Commission wants to put an end to Google antitrust

According to The Wall Street Journal, it is likely that the European Commission for several weeks to file formal charges of violating antitrust laws of Google.

The supervisor of the European Union appealed to companies that filed complaints, so that they give permission to publish confidential information collected by them on the case of Google. This seems to indicate preparation for a formal trial in court.

If the charges are still brought, the trial with Google will be the loudest antitrust case of the European Commission after a similar story with Microsoft, which eventually was fined $ 1.8 billion. However, Google still has the opportunity to solve the problem in a peaceful way even after as the charge will be brought.

European Commissioner Margrethe Vestager believes that formal charges are much more preferable than attempts to reach an agreement, which did not lead to anything. Suffice it to recall that the former Commissioner of the European Commission, Joaquin Almunia, had previously made three attempts to reach an agreement with Google.

Recall that about 1.5 months ago, the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia filed a lawsuit against the company in connection with the Yandex complaint. Further, the side of "Yandex" and took the Alliance FairSearch.

“The investigation of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) against anti-competitive business practices by Google was the eighth among those conducted by regulators on four different continents,” commented representatives of FairSearch. “By actively promoting its own search engine, Google introduces restrictive agreements that force mobile device manufacturers to abandon the Yandex search preset.”

The investigation related to the “predatory practice” of Google has been dragging on for several years.
