OOXML ↔ ODF converter saw the light
Open XML Translator 1.0, available for download on SourceForge.net , converts MS Word documents written in proprietary Open XML (OOXML) format to OpenDocument (ODF) format and back. You can install as a plug-in for Microsoft Word 2007.
Computerworld.com reports that this product is the first phase of the friendship between Microsoft and ODF. The company finances the development of the converter. An interesting fact is that Microsoft Word 2007 supports about 30 formats, but the recently-gaining and recognized ISO format ODF is not supported.
