The state enterprise Pochta Rossii plans to spend about 6 billion rubles in the next three years on the rental of computer facilities. Now the company needs services for storing and processing large amounts of data, this is required for the development of its own IT-projects, as well as for maintaining the GIS utilities system.
An open tender will be announced to find a contractor, and the winner will receive payments every month, Pochta Rossii will not pay the entire rental amount at once,
Vedomosti reports . For the first year, the state-owned enterprise plans to use about 0.5 petabytes in 10 server racks. Over time, the company will increase volumes to 2 petabytes in 40 racks.
The state enterprise is going to place in the systems of the leased data center not only the GIS utilities, but also the software responsible for managing logistics. This, in turn, will allow the Post of Russia to optimize delivery routes, automate sorting and monitor delivery on the so-called “last mile”. It is unprofitable to build our own data center “Post of Russia”, since the amount of initial investment will be large, but there is not much data in the enterprise’s IT systems. Therefore, renting capacity is the best solution at the moment.
According to the management of the company “Ayti” Tagir Yapparov, investment in the data center pays off for at least five years, in theory. In practice, this period is longer. Therefore, the “Post of Russia” is really more profitable to rent a data center, rather than build it. This is also true because over the past year, loans have risen significantly, so the operating expenses for the rental of DCs are now more profitable than the capital costs of building a data center.
