Google buys Retail Rocket product recommendation service

Nikolai Khlebinsky, head of Retail Rocket product recommendations service, today announced that Google has purchased the service. According to Nikolay, the negotiations lasted 8 months, and today the deal was officially closed.

Upon completion of the transaction, the Retail Rocket engineering team moves to Dublin, where it will become part of the Google Merchant Center.

According to Nikolai, Retail Rocket technologies will help Google to strengthen its leadership in ecommerce around the world. In the near future it is planned to launch a pilot project together with Google Moscow. The goal of the project is to surpass Yandex.Market in ecommerce traffic for Runet’s online stores.

The service itself Retail Rocket is a platform for multi-channel personalization of an online store based on big data, created by developers of recommendation systems Ozon.ru and Wikimart.ru.

Technologies developed by the creators of the service, allow you to identify the needs of visitors to the online store, followed by a demonstration of the product that is interesting to a specific visitor. As a result, online store revenue increases due to an increase in conversion, the average purchase amount, and the frequency of repeat purchases. According to the developers, revenue growth can go up to 50%.
