
The UK Court of Appeals has decided that British Safari browser users can sue Google. This solution opens up the opportunity for millions of Britons using Apple devices in 2011-2012 to fight for their privacy.
The lawsuit against Google was filed in June 2013 by British Internet users who claimed that the search giant was able to bypass the privacy settings of the Safari browser and was tracking which sites the user had visited. This was done without the consent of the users.
Google blamed for spying back in 2012. Then the US Federal Trade Commission fined Google $ 22.5 million for violating the privacy of users. A year later, the company will pay another 17 million by decision of the Attorney General of the State of New York.

Google claimed that it could not file a lawsuit in the UK and invited users to file a lawsuit in California court. But last year, the Supreme Court of Great Britain ruled that British users could file a lawsuit against Google, since the matter is within the competence of the British courts.
Plaintiffs may receive relatively small compensation under the UK data protection law.
