Amazon is interested in buying Net-a-Porter

According to Forbes, online retailer Amazon is in talks on a takeover with the owners of the site Net-a-Porter, which specializes primarily in the sale of designer clothing.

According to a Forbes source, the parties are far from the agreement, but the approximate estimate of the Net-a-Porter business value is already known - about $ 2 billion

If the deal goes through, it will be Amazon’s largest acquisition. In 2009, Jeff Bezos (the founder and controlling shareholder of Amazon) spent $ 1.2 billion to buy a shoe store Zappos, and last year he acquired the Twitch video streaming service for $ 1.1 billion.

Forbes notes that this is not Amazon’s first attempt to enter a luxury niche and luxury goods category. In 2006, the retailer purchased the online store of women's clothing Shopbox, which later turned into a store of designer brands, but did not acquire the level of popularity that the company expected.

Net-a-Porter exists since 2000, the founder is Natalie Massenet. It is currently owned by the Swiss Compagnie Financière Richemont. Over the past fiscal year, resource revenue was $ 835 million, showing a 23% increase from year to year.
