Gazety.ru website blocked in Ulyanovsk for undermining state authority

According to the decision of the Leninsky court of the Ulyanovsk region dated May 23, 2013, the Rostelecom Ulyanovsk branch blocked access to 15 sites on which, according to the prosecutor's office, is “propaganda of bribery”, which “undermines the authority of the government”. Recently, blocking sites has happened quite often, but this is the first time when not only resources widely known in narrow circles, but also fairly large sites, have been completely blocked (and not “by mistake”, as is the case with the registry). news agencies such as Gazeta.ru and Komsomolskaya Pravda.

Moreover, according to Gazety.ru, their representative was not only not invited to the court session, but also did not notify the editors of the decision. The court also decided not to block individual URLs, as required by the prosecutor’s office, but the entire sites.

It is interesting and the reason that caused the blocking. In the opinion of the prosecutor’s office, certain materials posted on the blocking websites contribute to “forming opinions in society about the possibility of committing corruption crimes to meet their own needs with impunity, and undermine the authority of the Russian government and Russian laws”, which is not only a violation of the law “On Information, Information Technologies and on the Protection of Information”, but also contradicts the Constitution of the Russian Federation (“The Constitution of the Russian Federation, by guaranteeing to everyone the freedom of thought and speech, at the same time, prohibits the abuse of the freedom of speech, if it violates the rights of other citizens ").

Arbitrary blocking sites? "Forbidden" registry? Why, if you can just take and block the sites of the two largest Russian media by a court decision, without even notifying them about it.

UPD The prosecutor's office stated that Rostelecom was to blame for the complete blocking of sites, which went beyond that prescribed by a court decision.

UPD2 Rostelecom refused to return access to blocked sites before receiving the relevant decision of the official body.
