"Lenta.ru" changed the design

The leading news publication of Runet, “ Lenta.ru, ” for the first time in 9 years has changed the design and rubric. According to the editor-in-chief Galina Timchenko, “the site has become stylish, modern, very compact and quite energetic.”

The last time the “Ribbon” design was updated by Artemy Lebedev in 2004. Since then, the site, in addition to the news itself, has a lot of long materials - reports, columns, interviews, analysts - and now the entire second screen has been set aside for them.

On the "Ribbon" will now be released a video project "Term" called Lenta.doc. It is expected that a news documentary will be published on the site once a day. Also, instead of 23 headings on the main “Ribbon”, nine are now represented, with sub-heading tags appearing in each heading.

As for the technical side, the previous version of the site was written by Maxim Moshkov on Perl. Subsequently, it was developed by Andrey Rukin and Vyacheslav Varvanin. For the new version was chosen Ruby. The editorial system uses MySQL as a database. The public part uses MongoDB as the caching base. The nginx web server is caching pages.
