Despite waiting for extradition to Sweden due to allegations of sexual abuse, Wikileaks founder Julian Assange is still the focus of media attention.
Russia Today (RT) interviewed Assange to get his opinion on political unrest in Egypt and Libya, in particular, what the founder of Wikileaks thinks about the role of social media in recent revolutions in both countries. In his interview, Assange paid particular attention to Facebook, calling him "the worst horror machine ever invented by spyware." Explaining in more detail, Assange stated: ')
This is the world's most comprehensive database of people, their relationships, their names, addresses, locations, their communication with each other, their relatives, all located in the United States and fully accessible to US intelligence.
According to Assange, it does not end with Facebook. He believes that the social network along with Google, Yahoo and other major American organizations have “built-in interfaces for US intelligence”:
It is not a question of serving the agenda, they have an interface that they developed for use by American intelligence. Is it about Facebook being in the hands of US intelligence? No, it is not. It’s just that American intelligence can put legal and political pressure on them.
It is expensive for them to get separate files, so they automated the process.
The founder of Wikileaks warned Facebook users, saying that if a user adds a friend on Facebook, he “performs a free job for the US intelligence to create this electronic database for them.”
