Julian Assange arrested in the UK

Today it became known that the British police were arresting Julian Assange on charges of sexual crimes, which was brought against him in Sweden. Swedish authorities sent a request for the arrest of Assange to Interpol, and in the UK, the law enforcement agencies of which cooperate with Interpol, Assange was arrested. Interestingly, first, law enforcement officers called Assange's lawyer, informing that they would like to "talk" with his client.

And just a few hours after that, Assange was arrested. It is not yet known whether he came to the polling station himself or was “taken” elsewhere, but the fact remains that the permanent project manager for Wikileaks has been taken into custody.

British authorities adhere to the principles of non-intervention, arguing that Assange was arrested solely because of the request for arrest submitted by the Swedes. All in one voice say that Wikileaks has nothing to do with the arrest, although Assange himself, of course, believes the opposite.

“Assange was arrested on charges of three sexual crimes, including two harassment and one rape. All three cases were initiated in August 2010, ”the London police said.
