Almost a day left before the start of
ICFPC-2008 . What it is? This is an annual non-stop three-day program contest, timed to the international conference on functional programming, during which you have to go through the solution of the problem as best as possible to other participants. The meaning of the competition is to identify the "best programming language." The tasks for at least the last two years are set interesting and original, and I hope this year will be the same.
Here you can read the report on ICFPC-2006, after reading which a lot of Runet students rushed to the storming of the competition in 2007.
Here the same person talks about how his team passed ICFPC-2007. In the end, by the way, there are many references to the stories of other participants. And reading is quite entertaining, I recommend.
This year, the rules have changed significantly. Now the size of the team is limited to five participants, and the need has been introduced to send the final code to the organizers (and only in the case of binary languages not included in the LiveCD) that should be compiled and run in the Live-CD environment. The final version of the rules will be posted to the beginning of the contest. However, I hope that the task will still be quite interesting.

The conditions of last year’s tasks can be found in the above links to LJ _adept_a. I participated a year ago, our team took 131 place out of 869. The main thing is not victory, the main part, fan and adrenaline were non-transferable. Actually, I participate this year. And you are agitating! Who will go?
All this begins, if I correctly counted, at 23.00 Moscow time. However, if I'm wrong, correct.
