Mozilla received the Guinness Book of Records certificate.
According to the official blog on July 9, 2008, Mozilla received an official Guinness Book of Records certificate for “the largest number of software downloads in 24 hours” (“the largest number of software downloads in 24 hours”). From 18:16 UTC on June 17, 2008 at 18:16 UTC on June 18, 2008, Firefox 3 downloaded 8,002,530 people!
On behalf of the entire FireFox community, a certificate from Gareth Divza (Gareth Deaves - in the photo on the left), managing the Internet and Technology section of the Guinness Book of Records, received Tristan Nitot (Tristan Nitot - in the photo on the right), President of Mozilla Europe. The certificate of achievement of the record was awarded to 300 community members gathered in central London to celebrate this event.
