Launched the National Electronic Library of the Russian Federation

The site of the National Electronic Library of the Russian Federation (NEB), a consolidated repository of scanned books and journals from Russian libraries, has begun its work.

Currently, 1 671 878 e-books and 29 948 245 catalog entries are available in the repository. These are ancient manuscripts, Soviet journals, textbooks, etc. Digitized documents can be downloaded or flipped right in the browser.

In the "Collections" section compilations are compiled by authors and events.

By the way, at the presentation of the NEB, the idea was sounded of the complete digitization of candidate and doctoral dissertations not only of recent times, but also of the Soviet period, so that citizens can freely get acquainted with the work of Soviet students who now occupy high positions in government.

Now in libraries about 880 thousand dissertations have been accumulated (since 1948).
