The last printed issue of Newsweek has been released in the USA

Paper editions, even very old and reputable, is becoming less. Yes, it is difficult for paper to compete with the figure in the case of newspapers, weeklies and other types of informational publications. Over the past few years, several very popular newspapers and magazines have completely gone online. They were now followed by the weekly Newsweek, the last printed number of the publication called on this subject #lastprintissue.

Everything is logical - the cost of issuing a printed magazine / newspaper is high, the number of advertisers willing to place advertisements in such publications decreases. Accordingly, revenues are falling. In contrast to this, the incomes of online versions of the same publications are growing, and the amount of “advertising” money that is spinning online now beats all records. Of course, all this leads to a significant reduction in the diversity of printed publications. Part of it closes, unable to compete with more prudent rivals, part of it reduces the circulation, the rest completely go online.

As for Newsweek, this weekly appeared in 1933, and during that time became well known. True, in 2010, Newsweek, the entire huge company, was sold for only 1 dollar, since the company suffered huge losses due to a drop in sales. The buyer was the publisher Sydney Harman (Sidney Harman).

The affairs of the publication went smoothly only after activating the online division of Newsweek, which eventually became the main one. It seems that soon other news newspapers and magazines will follow Newsweek, and there are fewer and fewer printed versions of them.
