For a long time in Australia, at the suggestion of Prime Minister Julia Gallard, they
considered the possibility of introducing an Internet filter. According to the plan, with the help of such filtering, users of the country would not be able to access sites with inappropriate content, including child pornography, cruelty scenes, terrorist sites and other resources. But now the threat of such a filter has disappeared.
The Australian Communications Minister announced that Australians will be able to access any sites other than selectively blocked sites with notorious child pornography. The filter will not be installed, providers have accepted the proposal of the government to block 1,400 sites that are among the worst sites compiled by Interpol.

It is worth noting that the country's largest providers already blocked access to these resources earlier, starting in 2010. However, no other sites will not be blocked. Australian authorities have abandoned previously announced plans to introduce an Internet filter, including under pressure from the public. And the international community began to criticize such plans, pointing to the inadmissibility of introducing censorship. It is worth noting that plans for the introduction of an Internet filter were developed by Australian authorities for five years, but, as we see, the intention to introduce this filter into operation had to be abandoned.
Nevertheless, some countries have already introduced (or are introducing) filters of this kind for a long time already, about which they have repeatedly written on Habré.
