Pew Research Center has published the results of a study on the trends in the popularity of news platforms over the past decade.
Without further ado, the graph shows that the traditional media is rapidly losing its position as a source of news. On average, in the audience, only television remains for the Internet a competing platform.

If we ignore the "average temperature in the hospital" and look at the data for individual age groups, the picture is even more dramatic.
For the overwhelming majority (65%) of Americans 18–29 years old, the Internet has become the main source of news for two years, having doubled its share since 2006.
For users of 30-49 years, the growing “Internet” schedule is rapidly moving towards the falling “TV” schedule. Newspapers, as a source of news for this age group, have lost the most in a decade.
And even for the most senior group (over 65 years old), the Internet took off from 1% to 14%, equaling and even slightly ahead of the radio.
Yes, these figures are American, but they once again underline the general trend - there are no competitors in the news and information segment of the Internet.
