Ukrainian government wants to fine informational sites that are not registered as media

The Cabinet of Ministers proposes the Verkhovna Rada to impose a fine in the amount of 120 non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens (UAH 2,040 or 200 Euro) for the release or distribution of information products by an information agency without its state registration as a subject of information activities, as well as for evading the news agency. This is stated in the bill number 6603, registered in parliament on June 30. For the same actions committed again during the year after the imposition of an administrative penalty, it is proposed to establish a fine in the amount of 300 non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens (5,100 hryvnia or 500 Euro).

The government emphasizes that this bill concerns not only information agencies, but also Internet publications . Today, the activities of Internet publications in Ukraine are not legally regulated.
