An interesting legal precedent occurred on Friday and went unnoticed by the Habr audience.
The Moscow Arbitration Court concluded the consideration of the claim of the Sports.ru site to the Sport-Express newspaper on the fact of copyright infringements, the project founder Dmitry Navoshha himself
tells about this.
The point is that when quoting one or another blog Sports.ru, the newspaper did not indicate its URL (
example 1 ,
example 2 ). In both cases, journalists talk about some kind of “blog on the Internet” or “diary on the Internet”, after which they quote it without specifying the site on which this blog is located. But in both cases we are talking about blogs on Sports.ru.
')
The demands of Sports.ru were satisfied in full and the court will have to pay a compensation of 10,000 rubles (the amount of the claim was specifically set as a minimum) and, in a 10-day period, eliminate the violations committed when using the materials of Sports.ru.
Dmitry Navosha believes that Sport-Express is far from being the most important plagiarist of the Runet, but this newspaper has a
pernicious habit of “hiding from its readers the fact that there is any other sports media in Russia and to avoid using any materials correct references or references. " Moreover, the newspaper’s employees themselves, in private, confessed that they did not like such an editorial policy.
Dmitriy Navosha also admits that this lawsuit was filed solely in order to “balance the lawsuit of Sport Express to Sports.ru, the next review of which will take place on Wednesday.” On Habré, this
case has already been discussed, in which the newspaper initially demanded 5 million rubles from the site for copying three articles.
This whole process is interesting to us also because Sports.ru and Habrakhabr are quite similar to each other in the organization of content. In other words, we could well be in their place, because the Habr content also quotes some newspapers without references, and on our website we are also fighting copy-paste. So the problems are the same in general.
