GreenPix – Zero Energy Media Wall

GreenPix - the so-called grand structure, built in Beijing for the Olympic Games - 2008.
According to the official website of the project, this is the world's largest display with a total area of 2.200 m 2 , consisting of 2.292 RGB LEDs. The screen is built into the facade of the Xicui Entertainment Complex, opened on June 24, 2008.

But the most interesting thing is not even in size. The full name of the project is “GreenPix - Zero Energy Media Wall”. According to the American-German developers, the glass contains "polycrystalline photovoltaic cells" "with a variable density model." This allows them to transmit light during the day, collecting excess heat, and emit the same energy in the form of a glow at night. Thus, the building is protected from overheating, and the wall works in non-volatile mode.

True, it is not necessary to talk about high resolution - one pixel takes a little less per square meter. But the creators of the new technology are not discouraged, believing that this “provides specific artistic possibilities compared to conventional high-resolution media facades.”
