Matthew Sollars published a financial business plan for a media company in the form of a non-profit organization. This form implies that the company directs all revenues (including profits) towards the achievement of statutory goals, and not payments to the founders. The main sources of funds in this form, as a rule, are a specially organized fund and private donations. No matter how exotic such an organization may seem, nevertheless such media exist in Russia (I can give a link if anyone is interested). This is also practiced in the USA, and now Solar's proposal is particularly relevant due to the crisis of the printing industry in this country.
The plan is published in Google Document format
right here . A budget of 3 million is taken as hypothetical. The greatest interest are additional sources of income, the cost of creating a website, etc.
For reference: Matthew Solars is conducting research on the media industry (mostly newspapers) in order to understand how they survive the transition period, the migration to the Internet and new media. I have already published his materials:
In addition, it will be interesting to see here this my publication:
The budget of the online media. How this is done by Westerners . Here is a link to an alternative business model.
UPD A few hours later, Solars published a
financial plan for hyper-local media , which provides additional services. Download the file
