Associated Press and Media Standards Trust offer news microformat

The Media Standards Trust (MST) and the Associated Press (AP) to improve the readability (and, therefore, profitability) of the news want to establish a new format for this media product. It is assumed that the microformat will improve the ranking in the results of search engines and facilitate the search for the desired content.

According to the new standard developed by AP, each news will be accompanied by metadata with a brief description of the topic, place and time of writing, the author, the “news guidelines” of the publisher and, if necessary, the rights to use.
Newsletters may ask: What is all this about? Most of the journalists working on the network have long crammed their hand in writing the correct SEO and SEM texts. But in May, Google announced that it would support the microformat in the Google News project, meaning that each news in this format would have an extended hint (“rich snippet”) with all the meta tag data instead of the current one or two lines. So the introduction of such a standard could help the news find its “right”, interested reader.
AP is already testing a new format on its Web Feeds platform, openDemocracy.net has just begun testing it. MST and AP encourage others to accept the standard. More information can be found at Valueaddednews.org .
