Samsung starts production of 64 and 128GB SSD drives

This news is pleasant and encouraging. Probably very, very soon, SSD drives will become as cheap as the current HDDs, and hopefully they will reach their volumes. So here. The Korean company Samsung (I love their products, no strength) begins mass production of SSD drives of sizes 1.8 and 2.5 ". Each version will be presented in 64GB and 128GB volumes.

Considering the fact that the production of these SATA II SSD drives will occur on 64 MLC NAND chips 9.5 mm thick and 16Gbit each, it can be said with confidence that these drives will be cheaper than SLC chips and faster with conventional mechanical hard drives, and their lifetimes are much longer. The data transfer rate of these disks is 70MB / s when writing data and 90MB / s when reading, and the power consumption is very small — 0.2 Watts in idle mode and 0.5 Watts in operation.

Samsung also promised to launch a 256GB SSD model by the end of the year .
