The Internet has finally surpassed the newspapers

The perennial rivalry between the Internet and the newspapers ended in victory for the latter. Sociological studies conducted in 2008 show that the Internet has finally surpassed the paper press as the main source of news for the public. This refers to ordinary citizens, and not geeks and young people who are used to receiving news from the Internet many years ago. It is for ordinary people (including middle-aged and elderly) that Internet sites are more important now than any newspapers. There is only television ahead.

If you look at the sharp spurt that the Internet made in 2008 (the graph on the left / top shows Pew Research data on the US audience), then there is not much left before television. Moreover, for the younger generation, the Internet has already caught up with television in terms of informational importance. The table on the right shows data for people aged 18-29 years in recent years.
