What and how to tweet

Often, newbies do not know what to write to Twitter and therefore do not use this wonderful service. I wrote my recipes for using Twitter on Bloggo.ru , copying my thoughts on Habr for all the lost.

If you want Twitter to bring you as much benefit as possible so that you can use it to meet new people or promote your blog, you need to try to publish both interesting and useful information, otherwise you just will not be read.

Tweets about interesting on the Internet

Read an interesting article and the hand is already stretching to write about it on Twitter? It would seem logical not only to write about it, but also to give a link to the article, but for some reason, many people often forget to do it.

Add links to interesting articles or services about which you write, thus you will be useful to your readers - they will receive a recommendation from you.

To prevent links from taking up a lot of characters, use the services of link shortening tinyurl.com or b23.ru - the latter is especially convenient.

Messages like "what am I doing now"

Many people tweet what they are doing now. For example, “I'll go home,” “I drink coffee at work,” “I read my friendliness in LJ.” Strangers such tweets are likely to be uninteresting.

Even if you add a little more information to your message (but remember, you have only 140 characters!) - it will become more interesting. Live in New Zealand? Write “I'll go home, today we have +26, maybe I’ll drop by the beach”. It would seem that you just said a word about the weather, and a resident of another country would be at least a little more interesting.

Want to write that you drink coffee at work? Write what kind of coffee, say two words about the current project - even such trifles will be interesting.

Quotes

I love to write interesting quotes. In my personal blog, the quote column is updated almost more often than others. Quotes shorter than 140 characters - perfect for Twitter.

Private messages

Try not to turn Twitter into a tool for a long conversation. If you want to talk with a specific person about a particular issue, use ICQ, Skype, Jabber or e-mail - thus you will save your readers from unnecessary information that they are not interested. If you do not want to go beyond Twitter - write private messages.

Of course, everyone uses Twitter differently, and all the tips are not universal. The main thing is to remember that the more interesting you are to write, the more you may have potential readers. It is better to write a little, but well , than a lot and uninteresting.

PS Bloggo goes under the wing of the 3Part art group that we created last week. The further - the more interesting. Stay tuned.
