Google launches a virtual world called Lively

Lively - the new service from Google will allow you to create and customize characters and worlds, communicate with other users. Overall, here social interaction is richer than GTalk offers today.

Created worlds can be added to web pages, but unfortunately viewing such pages is possible only for Windows users. Mac and Unix users will have to wait a bit.

Google has created several examples of rooms that can be copied and modified, or users can start creating their own worlds from scratch.
