Blogs received product classification

In the new edition of the International Classification of Goods and Services (ICGS), according to which trademarks are registered, a description of blogs and Internet forums has appeared. The ninth edition of the IKTU significantly expands the list of services related to the Internet.

Earlier, the ICGS envisaged such Internet services as “Creating and maintaining websites for third parties” and “Hosting websites”. In the ninth edition, a category for search engines was added to them - “Providing search tools for the Internet”. Also, the services section was supplemented with the “Providing discussion forms on the Internet” category, describing blogs and forums. According to experts, companies operating in these areas, it is highly desirable to register their trademark in the light of recent changes in the classification to protect their copyright.

The international classification of goods and services is officially recognized by the agreement of the participants in the diplomatic conference in Nice on June 15, 1957. MKTU is used to register trademarks in 78 countries participating in the conference. There are 45 categories in MKTU in total - 35 product classes and 10 classes for services.
