For the dissemination of false information about the serious deterioration of health and even the death of Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow, the chief editors of the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper Pavel Gusev and Ekho Moskvy radio Alexei Venediktov must resign,
press secretary of the Moscow Patriarchate Vladimir Vigilyansky believes . But Mr. Gusev does not agree with such reproaches. According to him, this information was published not in the paper version of the newspaper, but in its Internet version. “The Internet edition MK.ru is not the site of the MK, it has its own director and its chief editor,”
Gusev said. Interestingly, the misinformation about Alexei II’s health “merged” not through the paper media itself, but through their online versions (well, also through the radio station "Echo of Moscow"). On paper, on the contrary, the news of their own sites was refuted. Here is a
copy of the deleted message from the MK website and the
“answer” in the paper version of the newspaper . The same thing is with the newspaper “Your Day”, for some reason forgotten by the press service of the Patriarch: a
copy of the deleted message from the site and
“debriefing” in the paper version.
What was it: working out a new technology of emission, that is, in order not to get large on paper, we decided to play it safe and check info through its publication on our own websites? By the way, these news, though not hung on the websites of newspapers for long, managed to cause a public outcry. Naturally, they
were also copied by bloggers , for which the latter also “received” from the Patriarchate. Mr. Vigilyansky says: “As for what actions I expect from those who published false information in their media and
personal blogs , not only as a press secretary of the Patriarch, but also as a priest, I will say the following. Each of these people should apply the situation to himself and see if he would be pleased if all his friends and acquaintances say for a few days that he died or suffered clinical deaths. The whole moral aspect of the Gospel is contained in one statement of Christ: “And whatever you want people to do with you, so do you with them (Lk 6:31)”
