DreamWorks bought the rights to film the movie about Wikileaks



Studio Steven Spielberg bought the rights to the film adaptation of the book WikiLeaks: Inside Julian Assange's War on Secrecy , written by The Guardian journalists, and the book Inside WikiLeaks , which is the memoirs of a former colleague Assange.

The book tells about the life of Julian Assange, from childhood to the founding of the Wikileaks site in 2006, as well as the story of his secret agreements with The Guardian to transfer documents to the press simultaneously with the publication of more than 250 thousand diplomatic letters on the Wikileaks site in December 2010 of the year.

The chief editor of Guardian News & Media says: “The unique collaboration between The Guardian and Wikileaks has led to what some have called one of the greatest journalistic work in the past 30 years.” In his opinion, the plot of this film, based on real events, is sharper and more exciting than any fictional script.

Experts from the film industry believe that in this case, the film “Social Network” can be taken as a template, which received wide PR thanks to real lawsuits from Facebook’s co-founders against Mark Zuckerberg.

However, DreamWorks is not the only film about Wikileaks. Already, the shooting of the documentary is led by Alex Gibney, the author of the documentary film “Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room”.

While there is no information who will be the director of the film and the leading man. It is also not clear what the ending of this thriller will be, because in reality Julian Assange is now under arrest and his fate is unknown.
