Google Maps as a reporting platform

British students, protesting against higher prices for education, decided to use Google Maps as a tool for online reporting.

The map and chronology of the protests and clashes with the police are combined on the page “What's going on?”

What are the important differences of the resulting card:

• The actions of the protesters and the police are marked on the map - the general picture is immediately visible.
• Labels on the map are assigned clear icons - it is clear who-where.
• Event tags are not only indicated on the map, but also sorted by time - you get a news feed.
• Anyone can inform the organizers about the event - it turns out a collective report.

And most importantly, Google technologies allow you to build such a “news site” in half an hour.
