According to a joint study of Cision and the University. George Washington, almost all journalists and editors use social networks and blogs as the main sources of information for notes, stories, articles; although none of them deny that the data from these sources are very unreliable.
According to the survey, 100% use Google to search for data for their work, 96% use corporate websites, 61% use Wiki, many search for information on social networks and blogs (the most popular are 60% Facebook and 57% Twitter).

“All publications in the world, paper and online, refer to information obtained from social networks more than ever,” said Heidi Sullivan, vice president of Research at Cision. “In any case, no matter how popular such" sources "are today, good journalists and editors do not believe them unconditionally, and always check the facts using classical methods."
