Russian computer "Elbrus-3M" overtook Pentium III 500 MHz

The first "absolutely Russian" computer "Elbrus-3M" on a unique processor "Elbrus", which was recently discussed at Habré, was first shown to the press (there is a video link). In the presence of journalists, a SPEC test was launched on a computer in which the Elbrus 300 MHz in compatibility mode with the x86 platform overtook the Pentium III 500 MHz. The developers of the machine at the same time reported that in the state tests "Elbrus" showed the performance equivalent to Pentum 4 2 GHz.

According to Cnews, the Linux-based OS, as well as Windows 2000 and Microsoft Office, can be run on the Elbrus-3M computer. No problem playing videos MPEG-4 with a resolution of 720x416 and starts Quake (the first of four).

"Elbrus-3M" is produced in 130 nm topology. Due to the lack of suitable assembly lines in Russia, it is assembled in Taiwan (at the facilities of the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company).
